Dinner Served
Rideau River at Carleton University campus, Ottawa
Design-build project for a temporary outdoor dinner pavilion.
The initial approach to the preliminary concept drew directly from the region's history and the
travelling patters of the 'coureurs des bois'. This was implemented in our design through the
fragmentation of the presentation. The path we created offered obstructed views, constant
change in direction and rising intensity of the sound of the water. The culminating moment was
contained in the main dinner area, where the sound was loudest and the view of the rapids was
clearest.
